With a PhD from Cornell and positions at Yale, London Business School and UNC Kenan-Flagler, Dr. William Putsis has spent three decades bridging academic rigor and real-world strategy at the highest levels of global business. Since founding his consulting firm in 1995, he has advised Fortune 500 CEOs across six continents on competitive positioning, capital allocation and long-duration decision-making. He has published more than 30 papers and authored two books on business strategy.

Dr. William Putsis is a Principal and Chief Economist of Knapp Capital Management, where he applies rigorous economic modeling, scenario analysis and competitive strategy to the platform's investment, development and capital allocation decisions. He has advised Fortune 500 CEOs and government agencies across six continents on competitive positioning, platform strategy and long-term value creation for more than 30 years.
Putsis founded his strategic consulting firm in 1995 and has since advised leading global organizations including Boeing, BASF, PepsiCo, Morgan Stanley and Barclays Bank on market structure, capital allocation and competitive dynamics.
He is a Professor at the Yale School of Management and has held tenured and tenure-track faculty positions at Cornell University, London Business School and the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School, where he has taught competitive strategy, economic modeling and decision-making under uncertainty at the graduate and executive levels.
He has published more than 30 peer-reviewed papers on market structure and competitive strategy and is the author of two books: Compete Smarter, Not Harder (Wiley, 2014) and The Carrot and the Stick (University of Toronto Press, 2020). Putsis serves on the External Advisory Board of CEOWORLD Magazine and is a regular contributor on topics of global competitive strategy and economic analysis.
